Re: Stability control light on and loses power. by Sam123 » Thu Nov 19, 2020 9:28 am. The ESP/ESC light (car with wiggly tyre tracks) indicates that ESP/ESC is deactivated, but doesn't necessarily mean that there is a fault with ESP/ESC, the fault could be almost anywhere, but the reaction is to deactivate ESP/ESC.. It seems to lose power It comes up esp asr faulty Then says parking break faulty then engine fault in need of repair then engine management light comes on. UK Auto Mechanic: Kevin. Ok so this can happen for a lot of different reasons ,the tricky part is knowing if the fault is causing the loss of power or if the engine management system is.

Over the last few months my Passat's Esp light has flickerd, split second loss of power and a sensation like when a HGV passes you on the motorway. It happens when you reach 60 mph.. Its fine at 50, 55, 65, 70 etc... Thankfully that's all resolved. Whilst exiting a roundabout for the motorway I accelerated and suddenly lost power for about 5 - 10 seconds and the warning "Engine power is reduced" came on the dashboard. This is the first time this has happened. I've also noticed over the last few days the start/stop isn't kicking in where it normally would have.
